Meet the Founders

Our mission at Protocol8 is to guide and educate you on intermittent fasting, which often appears complex with contradicting information. To make a lifestyle that is often scary for some, easy and comfortable as can be. With experts and a community of like minded people, we wanted to create the ultimate structured support package when making these lifestyle changes.

There is a wealth of scientific research and information out there on Intermittent Fasting (IF). However, after reading through vast amounts of it, Vanessa and Gemma did not think it was easy for people to use and fit into their lifestyle. This is how Protocol8 started.

Protocol8 is an IF programme designed to deliver you an individually tailored programme of recipes and training. You will join a community of like-minded people and health experts to deal with any concerns as you go on this journey to a healthier and happier you.

Vanessa Raw

Vanessa is an ex-professional GB triathlete, health coach and artist. She has developed her knowledge from working with top coaches during her career as well as learning from her own training and nutritional mistakes. She would like to share with you her knowledge and help you achieve your health goals.

Why?

As someone who has had many health problems over the years, including an autoimmune condition (Hashimoto’s) depression, insomnia and behaviours associated with low self-esteem Vanessa has been able to overcome or manage all of them through lifestyle and nutrition. She believes there is always a reason for unwanted feelings, behaviours or symptoms and through Protocol 8, she is able to advise and support you through your journey.

As someone who is passionate for new studies and all things health, fitness and anti-ageing, she is responsible to keep the website content, news feed and community pages all up to date with relevant information and studies, as well as answering your questions.

IF is heavily researched and Vanessa has found Protocol8 to be the ultimate diet for antiageing and managing her autoimmune condition. She has never felt better and hopes to share the tips and tricks with you, so you can also find your optimum health.

Gemma Eves

Gemma has always had an interest in the health and wellness industry for as long as she can remember. In Australia back in 2001, she started her career studying Nutrition, Sports Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology and other manual therapies. She went on to study Pilates and also gained a Business Degree. Over the years she has furthered her qualifications in NLP and life coaching.

Why?

Throughout her studies, Gemma’s main interest has always been nutrition. However, she spends most of her working day as a massage therapist, specialising in both sports and neural injuries. Most of Gemma’s clients are heavily involved in sports and training, so she often has open discussions on the new trends and supplements, so can team this this with her own research including listening to podcasts. She was increasingly hearing great feedback about IF. Curiosity got the best of her and in early 2017 Gemma embarked on the journey herself….. And has never looked back!!

Generally, Gemma is strict when fasting, however she believes in balance and knows that life gets in the way sometimes, so it is not always possible to be so regimented. She will always listen to her body and do what she feels is right at the time.

Dr. Wayne Phillips

SCIENCE OFFICER

Dr. Phillips is an internationally recognized researcher who holds an MS in Physical Education and Sports Science from Loughborough University, UK, and a Ph.D. in Exercise & Wellness from Arizona State University, where he is now Professor Emeritus. Dr. Phillips is also a former postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University, Center for Research in Disease Prevention, and a current Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.

For the last 30 years his work has focused on the design and development of evidence-based health and wellness related programs, products and services, as well as the implementation of communication and coaching approaches to the pursuit of active healthy lifestyles. As Science Officer, Dr. Phillips compiles, analyses and synthesizes research supporting the validity of Protocol8 products and services, ensuring that the company transparently meets the highest Best Practice standards. He also contributes to the broader dissemination of this research via print, media and web-based outlets.
